Squash

The Ramgarhia Squash Club has been running for over twenty-five years. It is a friendly club run by Ranjit Singh Manku, our longest-serving member. The club has an open-door policy and welcomes members of all ages and abilities, so you will be sure of a warm greeting whenever you decide to step into the club. The Club holds a session every Friday evening at the Brunel University Sports Centre in Uxbridge. The centre provides our club with excellent courts and changing facilities.

The club aims to produce top-quality squash players and help individuals achieve their fitness goals by participating in the sport. We strive to reach this goal by assisting how to improve, in the form of coaching and tactics, whilst also ensuring that our members enjoy the game. We have a strong membership of mixed abilities, from beginner to more experienced players. The club’s success can be measured by the fact that many of our players compete in competitive leagues in Middlesex County and in graded tournaments in London. A recent success is Dhaman Singh Bhalla, who won two tournaments at the British Airways Concorde Club and a graded tournament in Wimbledon.

We also hold an annual tournament that is welcome to all, including non-members. This is usually hosted at the Brunel University Sports Centre but was moved to the British Airways Concorde Club in Cranford for 2012 due to prior bookings by Olympic teams. Kalwant Singh Bhalla runs the tournament and has been successful for many years. It has attracted some of the best players from as far as Birmingham and Leeds, as well as from around London and the local area. The 2012 tournament was particularly entertaining as Mike McLoughlin won the main competition in a fierce battle against Nev Appleton. The plate tournament was equally entertaining, with Will McClay clinching the win after an exciting match vs Kartar Ryatt.

It was a fantastic day, and I really enjoyed the tournament. The atmosphere was highly positive, and everybody had a great time. The quality of the squash was awe-inspiring. I’m already looking forward to next year! – Kartar Ryatt

If you are interested in participating in either the weekly club sessions or the tournament, please do not hesitate to contact us. We are an expanding and advancing club and welcome new players of all standards.
